we use to see those all the time out here on Lake Erie. Haven't seen one in years though.

10 years as a VFF, and I've seen fire do some weird chit, but never stand up and burn like a flagpole.

Didnt realize you were a VFF, even took me a second to figure out what you meant, I did 10 years also up in CT, and grew up in the firehouse, as my father was on for 30 years 'til he moved south also, but not too many voluteer companies down here in South Fl, so I am retired, and YES Fire does do some weird chit!!

saw that several times when San Diego burnt in 03.You need a big enough fire to begin creating its own weather.
