Default Newbie saying hi from over the pond-question aswell please!

Hi Fellas, just found this great site and hoping for a few pearls of wisdom.Been boating 10 years in England and now based in Spain-now looking to up-grade to somthing fast but able to overnight and keep the kids happy watersporting too-prob need 2 boats really but economics play a big part as always espiecially with gas prices here.Been looking at and like the Checkmate 2800 with 300xs or Concept 30 Sport Deck. Also various single engine B/B Baja's,Velocity and the like.Any views/ advice welcome,Cheers.

The Velocity 290 gives you a nice size cabin with a small enclosed head. Plenty of speed which means it is efficient and should be good for skiing etc.

Welcome to the OSO web-site, I think you will find everything that you are looking for here and you will find that this is a great site for performance boaters.

thanks guys,my dilema is whether to going single big block or twin o/b's.i definitely can't run to feeding twin v-8's with a thirst problem.i would like to run to the 80mph mark.gas is around $8.50/gal here.was thinking twin 300xs or somthing 454 upwards with a blower.any advice and real world figures for speed/consumption on say 27ft/30 footers would be great.thanks again for the warm welcome.cheers.
