Default 3M Fine Line Tape Usage Suggestions

I have a wooden boat Im painting and varnishing. Ill be using the 3M Fine Line tape and was wondering if youre going to do a few coats of paint (Interlux Brightside), can you just tape once, paint your 3 or 4 coats and then pull the tape once finished, or would you need to pull and re-tape with every coat? This is probably a silly question for most, but Ive never painted with this type of paint before and dont want a jagged edge when I pull the tape when Im done. Thank you for your help.

You can put down a couple strips of it one on top of another, like we do for gelcoat graphics.

So are you saying to perhaps put 3 layers of tape on top of one another, spray a coat and peel the top layer off and then repeat? Sorry if this is elementary, but Ive never messed with Gel coats either.

Yes, you see with gelcoat we have to free the tape edge before the material gels or you pull up the gelcoat film with the tape, usually I will tape off with say 1/2" or better then come back with a 1/4" on top along the work edge, this is flagged so I can pull it with gloves on, down here it is a race with the ambient temp and the material kicking off right behind me.
