Default Finally decided on taking the job of building my own windscreen for my 1996 272 baja

I have a 1996 and now that winter time is coming I'm going to take the time to build my own windscreen for the 272 since it has the windshield. I have a couple of questions for the glass professionals such as glassdave. Could this be done by using thinner plywood and fiberglassing the plywood and then spraying gelcoat at the end to make it nice and white and thru bolt it on the boat? I'm trying to come up with ideas since it's almost impossible to buy one, actually it is impossible to buy one! if you guys can enlighten me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it

You can do that or buy a product called NIDA Core. There are a few others. If you look I have a detailed thread on when I did mine. I think it is called "making a race fairing" or something like that in the General tech area.

yes you could use plywood but there are much better cores available, as Jon mentioned NidaCore makes some great stuff. First off post a few pics of what you are starting off with, pics of whats on the boat currently. Is it a flat or curved piece?

I have to take some pictures of the front of the boat, mine is a 1996 272 and it looks like the windshield has a curve to it throughout the front which would be hard to make with plywood? or I could be wrong? does anyone has pictures of what kind of support system you put for the windscreen to stay in place? or do you just bolt it up to the deck?
