Hi!
I have sold my two Merc 2,5 EFI SS engines and bought a single Verado 350 sci. Previus to my twin set up I used a single Promax 300, so I have 8 years experience with a single set up on my Phantom 25.
I see that Mercury have several versions of the Bravo One prop; one for sterndrives & Verado engines, and one for outboards. The immidiate difference is the vent hulls and shortened exhaust tube to minimizing stern lift.
Another prop that has been popular among the Verado community is the REV4, and owners reccommend to shorten the tube with approx. 16 mm to gain an extra mph.
Through the years I got the best result with a labbed old style Tempest A40 / A45 25 pitch prop. How will such a prop compare to the above? The new lower unit for the 350 sci is big, so should I by any reason avoid 3 bl props?
If I am to buy a Bravo One prop, should I do the outboard version (and plug the vent holes) due to shortened tube since my boat needs bow lift? It runs very flat. But very high. Even with a twin set up. But slip percentages are very good. It ran 76-77 mph with a single PM 300 at 6,200 spinning a stock A45 Tempest 25. I:1,75 gears. It ran 87 mph at 7,400 rpms with the twin set up with a 4bl Quad C-O/B 25 pitch prop.
Cheeers and thanks!
