Default Fuel pump not turning on (496HO)

My port engine will crank over but won't start. When I turn the key on I don't hear the fuel pump kick on. I have checked all circuit breakers, etc. Any ideas on what to look for?

If the fuse is still good, check the weather pack connector at the pump itself. It could be the pump is burnt out or if you don't have a pre filter they can get jammed up. A $5 test light will tell you really quick if you've got power there. Good luck

good tip! Just curious though, if it was a bad connection at the back of the ignition switch would the motor still be able to crank over?

Thanks for the tips. Can you tell me where the fuse is located? I checked circuit breakers but no fuses.

Thank you!

Check the kill lanyard on all the way.Had it happen to me, someone had hit the lanyard while we were stopped. It was still on the switch just not on all the way.The engine will crank but the fuel pump will not run, also the beep when the key is turned on is shorter than normal.Hope thats it, I was relieved as I thought I had a major problem.

The fuse for the fuel pump is under the engine cover. You will have to pull the engine cover off to check it. I just had the same thing recently happen to me. The boat would try to turnover but would not start. I replaced the fuse for the high pressure pump and everything worked fine until I stopped again. Found out my fuel pump was going bad which was was causing the fuses to blow. Ended up having to replace the high pressure pump.

So basically the kill switch cuts off the fuel pump?

I think I have a bad kill switch on my boat.
All fuses and connections at the ignition switch are good.
