Default Maximus 5-blade

Bought A Pair Of 26p 5-blade Maximus Props. The One Prop Has A Slight Bump Near The End Of One Ear That You Can Feel With Your Hand. Also Tiny Vibration When Planing. Would Like To Send Them Out To Be Checked. Where Do You Suggest? Thanks In Advance Ted.

X3..... I have a set of 26 Maximus props and 28 Bravo's that Brett at Bblades did. Simply awesome. He is busy, but if you get him on the phone he will take the time to discuss what ever you need. In my case, I got a 15 min. prop education that helped me understand what I actually wanted to achieve.

I'm curious. Which one's do you like better. The 26 Maximus or 28 4 blade Bravo's?

I have run both this year. I like the 4 blades much better.Easier on the drives, great top end, good cruise, and good out of the hole. The 5's have a better cruise speed at the same rpm,s (3500) but only about 3-4 mph.The 5's just seem to "bite" too much.We run around Cape Cod and it can get pretty nasty. The 4's are more forgiving. BBlades put a little cup in the 4's and the cruise is still very good. I will probably get hammered for this, but I don't see the need for 5's on mild powered boats like ours. Run the 4's,faster,and easier on the equipment.....just my .02cents

Donzi38zxx,not implying your boat is mild, just assumed you had 500's

Actually, I have twin supercharged 600hp at 5500rpm. I'm running labbed 25-26 pitch Maximus. Not labbed by BBLADES. 1994 Cigarette TOP GUN. 11,500lbs +220 gallons of fuel. I run 71 at WOT with the labbed Maximus, full fuel and 1 foot chop. It seems I should be going a lot faster. Cruise is 40mph at 3100rpm and 50mph at 4100rpm. Props are spinning out, not in. I wonder what gain I could get with 4 blades on top end. Maybe even spin them IN instead of out. The previous owner said he hit 81 in the boat with 4 blade clever hydromotives. I think he is full of it.

I would think you should be faster than that, even with 5blades. My 382 with 525's loaded,a/c,genset,full fuel, and water is about the same weight, 11,500. 26 Maximus spinning 5000 rpm's 70-72. 28 Bravos spinning 5200 rpms 76-78 in 1 to 2's. I know I have steps, but you Top Gun should be faster than my Formula with the added power you have.

I think steps add about 10 mph. Do you know how much your boat weighs?
