We are considering sponsoring the lake cumberland poker run next year. We have the option to be in the boatel if we do this and I wondered how everyone felt about the boatel. During the day if you go to the party you have to tie up and then have to chance driving back after drinking out there. At night time I bet it is awesome being right there in the middle of the party but during the day I would think it kinda sucks. Also seems that it could get a little rocky in the tied up to the marina instead of nosed up on the shore. Any input would be greatly apprecited. I am thinking of just taking my boat out to harmon and getting the preferntial spots to drive up to the party at night time.

I don't know man, I think it would be pretty cool to have one, but I see your point about drinking all day and then driving the boat back. It was a pretty sweet party on the docks though. If I could have one, I think I would do it.

KYBoy1020, I have had a boatel for the last three years and all I can say WOW!... I was a sponsor in the early years 2000 thru 2004 and stayed at Jamestown the boatel is the way to go. You can go out all day and trust me you want to be back by dark it is truly a fun time being in the middle of it all. The party at the dock with the poker runners and the slip owners is all right.

We had a boatel for 3 years at State Dock for the poker run. We found that you get a lot of friends (many that you haven't ever met yet
) checking your frig and coolers in search of beer as the evening progresses and alcohol becomes harder to find. Otherwise, nothing like a front row seat for the action ... and not having to search far for a bathroom when you have to pee
