lots of wetsanding, 400/600/1000/ultrafine then polish with a buffing wheel with aluminum polish good polish can be had at a Harley Davidson shop, have lots of clean terrycloth towels on hand to wipe down between polishing and clean the buffing pad often. also it is advisable to clear coat them or it will be hell keeping them looking shiney

KWB Your drives have already been polished so all you really need to do it polish them again. You can use a wheel and a heavy compound then a lighter one. As luke said it is hell on the buffing wheels and they get real dirty. When you are done I have no idea what Merc recommends to keep them looking that way.

Jon, my skegs are rough - they fill like shark skin. I'm not sure they were ever polished and look like sh*t.
I'm gonna try wet sanding them as suggested and follow up with some polish. What are you doing this weekend, wanna help?
Hope all is well - hey are you going to the Hi-Fi conference in NYC at the end of the month? I'm thinking of going.
