Around Long Island Marathon Record Attempt...Friday Sept 24th, 7 Am.

An attempt at the N.P.B.A. AROUND LONG ISLAND RECORD will be made tomorrow morning, Sept 24th, 2010, 7 am starting at “Gong 15” off of Lloyds Neck, NY by Tom Abraham in his 36 MTI Cat powered by Merc 700 HP’s.
There will be a “live “ satellite broadcast of him running at www.nationalpowerboat.com
Tune in and see if he breaks Stu Hayim’s record of 3 hours and 6 minutes.
THIS EVENT IS SANCTIONED BY THE NATIONAL POWERBOAT ASSOCIATION.

Tommy Abraham/36 Mti Cat w/700 HP Mercs, attempt at the AROUND LONG ISLAND RECORD OF 3 hours and 6 minutes, set by Stu Hayim in 1989;
Started at 7:05 am at buoy “Gong #15, Long Island Sound, (Lloyd’s Neck), travelling toward NYC,
He made it to Atlantic Beach/Jones Inlet.(south shore Long Island)
He got bit by "mechanical gremlins" ...
He did 67 miles in 45 minutes and has 265 gallons of fuel left.
We are all going to the Poker run later at Glen Cove…4-10 pm
Then back tomorrow for the run.
