Default Anyone running ALL aluminum (6) wheels on a 3500 truck???????????

I hear from Alcoa that both wheels can not be aluminum on the rear of a 3500 dually. The inner is steel and the outter is aluminum. I find that very strange and wonder if I can run all aluminums for practical reasons of maintenance like rotating the tires.

Is there a hub in the aftermarket that accomodates both aluminum wheels?
I'm sure some one is doing this so how is it done and is it worth it??

even on bigger trucks they run steel inside and aluminum on the out side the hub would have to protrude alot and also longer studs

Most big rigs run full aluminum wheels. Cuts down on weight. 3 KW's and a Freightliner, all had full aluminum.

Studs will have to be longer, we run all KW, some are alum/steel and some are all alum. See your point but may be a larger pain to run all alum on a dually.

It's my understanding that it's a tightening issue. As we all know, aluminum wheels need to be checked regularly to be sure they are not loosening up, especially when new. There is a certain amount of movement in an aluminum wheel. It works with one wheel tightened on a steel surface but to put 2 aluminum wheels together on a longer stud is asking for a problem besides the inner wheel isn't going to look very pretty for long. I had my steel inner wheels powder coated bright silver instead. Looks great, safe and easy to clean.

On a 08 F-450 it's the lifted one in the classifieds.

I see. The F-450 has the 10 bolt hub which must be deeper and will accomodate both alums.
The 350 one tons, of all the big 3, with 8 bolt hubs are not supposed to be able to run both alums.

Not on the trucks I service. It is all of one or the other....no mixes.

On some trucks we have converted from steel to alumn but that was all the wheels. I was thinking to do that on mine but it doesn't seem possible.

I'm starting to give in to the mix.
