Default 500hp Valve Spring/Crane PN?

Anyone remember what the Crane PN is for the 500HP Spring?
Thanks!

I don't recall the Crane springs being recommended very often. I believe many were using the Comp Cams Valve springs 249-929-16. We have many more choices now that should last longer.

I think most of us are using Isky performance series, should last much longer. I can't remember the PN though.

Isky's are better, get ahold of Bob "RMbuilder", he can get them for you.

The endurance series is made from "tool" steel. They are suppose to last longer and take more abuse.

Just the info I was looking for, Isky 8005 performance springs. Can someone list the recommended PN of the retainers and locks or do you use the original items over which I doubt. Thanks

Default Answer from Bob @ RMBuilder

Assuming that you will be using the stock OEM HP500 cylinder heads? If that's the case you have 3/8 valves. My preference on the Springs is always the Isky over the Comp. Your best choice here would be the 8005+ endurance spring. If using a 7° retainer the part number is 175 – ST and the keepers are VL-800.

OK, I am looking at the catalog for Isky springs on FlatLanderRacing's site, and they list a PN 8005-A, 1.530 diameter, dual spring, 135 lb seat pressure, 395 lb open pressure, up to .650 lift. Is this the right spring? I did not see a plain "8005" PN listed.

My cam comes in with a little lower lift than the stock HP500 cam, so the .650 max lift should be fine for me.

Thanks.
