I spent the last 2 days watching F1 boat racing here in Liuzhou, China. I'm a Kansas Boy who moved to China this January for a little adventure and a really great job. So, it was pure bliss to get a much, much needed "fix" for my boating addiction!
The event was awesome I had a journalist pass which got me into the pits so I got to meet the teams, etc. Our company was one of two major sponsors so I got to see whatever I wanted.
The boats rock - 1000lbs, +450hp 2 stroke 2.5L Mercs that are capable of pulling 9 g's in the corners. Awesome machines!
I spent about 30 minutes talking with a driver, Jay Price, on Saturday night. He was a good 'ol boy Cajun from New Orleans. He ended up ruling the race by leading from the first corner to the finish. Very, very cool guy with a great perspective on life. Also, he was a super smooth and deadly consistant driver. I like people like that.
I look forward to them coming back next year!
