would like to keep my 1992 Baja 260 in the water next year. I was thinking about the upper mississippi river IL - IA area. Any one have pros - cons or advice? Thanks for all the help.

Even if you don't want the Armored Hull, don't paint your bottom. Figure something else out.
Lemme know if I can help you.

If it's going to stay in the water full time you better bottom paint, with a barrier coat first, not only will the boat stay cleaner but will protect it from blistering terribly sitting in the water like that...

My formula 242 had a painted bottom. I hate painted bottoms because it slows you down. Before I stripped the paint I was getting around 57 mph with 530+ hp. After I stripped the paint off I hit 64.5 all GPS speeds. The paint on my boat was really bad but no matter what, you're going to loose at least 3 mph. Now VC-17 is good for freshwater and is quite smooth, I use it on my sailboat. If you must paint it use VC-17! If you don't keep your boat in the water all the time paint is a waste, IMO
