I'm not sure what the vortec puts out boost wise from the factory but speaking from the experience I personally had with comparing the two style blowers I liked the roots style better. The roots blower didn't have any "lag" to it and was impressive to me right off idle. The vortec felt a little "lazy" off idle but the mid-range was good and it came on hard in the top-end. Granted, this was not a marine application that we used these blowers in but I would assume that it wouldn't effect the characteristics of each blower. The only "plus" that I might be able to come up with when it comes to how each of these blowers responded if you put them in a marine environment is that I would assume that the vortec would be easier on the drive/s.

I can't speak of superchargers on boats but I have run Vortech, Paxton, Procharger, and Powerdyne on cars. Vortech is by far the best centrifigul charger there is. The boost came on much quicker than any of the others and was a much easier install than the Procharger. My Vortech made 12 lbs of boost and the car was much stronger than when I ran 125 hp shot of nitrous.
