Default Ground and Battery charger

Boat has onboard battery charger and boat is on trailer in driveway. Batteries were low so I went to connect shore power to house to get charger to charge batteries.

As soon as I turned on the battery charger switch, the ground fault circuit in my house popped. Not a big deal as I can charge battery with my own portable charger, just wondered if having the boat on the trailer hooked to house/shore power would knock out the ground fault.
