Well, parts for my winter upgrades to the motor are starting to come in! I just scored a great deal on some stainless marine manifolds and risers and 4" s.s. s-pipes to relocate my exhaust from under the swim steps to above the water line. Anyway, I have some questions and have NOT been able to find the answers on the net. I need to buy 4" exhaust tips and flappers. here's my problems:
exhaust tips: my transom is angled slightly forward so I need tips with a angled flange (flange must angle forward) and want a angled tip also (longer part of the tip at the top...if that makes sense). I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND EXACTLY WHAT I NEED (MAINLY, THE FLANGES ARE FACED THE WRONG WAY WHICH PUTS THE DIRECTION OF THE ANGLE ON THE TIP UPSIDE DOWN) ANY RECOMMENDATIONS AS TO WHO CAN CUSTOM MAKE SOME GOOD TIPS UP FOR ME OR WHERE TO BUY THEM?
flappers: I have heard about a lot of issues with noisy internal flappers, the rubber burning out of them and how horrible they sound! WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND I BUY WHEN IT COMES TO FLAPPERS?
Thanks in advance, Mark
The pic below is where I'm relocating my exhaust to. You can see the angle on the transom and why I need an angled flange. Also, my tips will have an angle cut on the end (which are different from the ones in this pic) with the longest part of the tip being at the top (no more than 5 1/2 inches at the top, would prefer just a bit shorter actually but that's the shortest I've found so far) and shortest part of the tip at the bottom. Hope that helps give you an idea of what I'm looking for.
