1996 303 SR-1. Is the glove box lid a fiberglass/gel coat piece? I'm talking about the one that doubles as a step to get out to the deck. Has all the raised circles on it.

On my 353 it's some kind of cast aluminum.

The lid on my '99 382 was fiberglass. There were some problems with them cracking and they changed the design. I went to my local plastics shop and made one out of Lexan.

Same lid. Yes, this one too is cracked down the middle on the underside and the screw holes that hold the stainless hinges are stripped out. It appeared to be fiberglass under the cracked gel but wanted to make sure before I attempted to repair it. Do you step on that Lexan lid?

And a question for Glassdave or any other glass guys that might be reading this thread. What should I use to fill in the areas around the screw holes that have broken out and to repair the large cracks on the underside of the lid? Back in the 70's/80's when I used to help my Dad on Corvettes, I believe we used a product called "Tiger Hair". It was a bondo-like material that had chopped glass mixed in with it.
