Default Anchoring after Jones Beach Concert

thinking about attending the Who concert at the end of August at Jones Beach, then overnighting on the boat in the bay there.

Anyone done this before? Great venue for an afterconcert raft up party I would think.

I have an inflatable kayak I use to get on and off the beaches with, any place to store it while attending the concert?

No can do, sorry. They cut off access to Zach's Bay about ten years ago because of the boat traffic during the concerts. Now, you have to anchor so far off, all you get is an echo.

You can thank Ron Delsner (his underlings) for that manuever. Contrary to popular belief, Jones Beach State Park had NOTHING to do with it, and it wasn't a nighttime safety issue. While attending a concert, the powers-that-be noticed the boats, and asked if the boats had "free" access..... The "official" story reads differently.

Best regards and happy boating,
Jennifer

Humm, thanks Jen. You mean I can't even paddle ashore near where the concert is, then paddle back out to the boat? Hey, I can wear my inflatable as a back pack if necessary, but do they have a "coat check" at the concert hall?

I bet they even have underwater cameras to stop the submarines from getting free access, but you can try. It's a REALLY big thing in Australia now (for theft in marinas). I would imagine the US is next.

My best,
Jennifer

Boat thefts from a sub? That is really something! Are they going for props and outdrives, or everything in the marinas?

One would hope anyone who could afford a sub capable of carrying a large cargo could think of something better to do with it than robbing people. Or, are the subs stolen too?

I was refering to the underwater cameras in Australia to stop theft. Guys anchor out and swim in with dive equipment. It's very common over there.

Sorry about the confusion. I actually needed the laugh.
