Hi guys, a friend of mine wants to upgrade his 502 mag. He is thinking of super charging, cam upgrade and aluminum heads. How much power can the bottom end of this motor handle and can the dart pro1 325cc with the 2.300 intake valves work on the 502. he wants about 675-700+hp. the boat is a 26ft american offshore. Thanks for any input.

i am pretty sure there are people here running blown 502 mag making 700hp the bottom end shoudl be ok.
hell i am having a 454 mag setup and (if i can get the bigger blower) will be making 600hp

502 mag is a good base. Weakest link would be the rods. 650-700hp can be done just make sure you run good (new) rod bolts. Have the rods, crank and block checked by someone you trust. Chevy High Performance are very good parts in my opinion. Depending on which generation 502 you have watch the head gaskets they are prone to failure if not set up correctly. Make sure your heads will work on block you have. Whipple kit is running 700hp + on 502efi HP's and they are chevy lower ends.
I should say blue printed lower ends!
