I would like to paint my scarab this winter and have a couple of questions.
1. I have a bunch of very small thin gelcoat cracks mostly above the rub rail from what appears to have come from bumping the dock. I was thinking to vee them out with a dremel and then fill with 3m marine filler. Would be a ton of work. Is there an easier way.
2. The whole deck of the boat is covered with non skid that looks more at home on a tuna boat. I would like to sand it down to have a smooth glossy finish when painted. I don't want to create a nightmare for myself with dips and gullies all over. How should I approach sanding it down?
Thanks for the help.

You will need something denser then 3's marine filler, that's best used as the final fairing coat. V them out and mix up some westsystems 404 and some poly or vinylester resin to fill the voids. Topcoat that with the premium marine.
Non skid generally isn't to bad to deal with if it is molded in the gel. I usually just take 80 on a DA an knock it right down then maybe a quick coat of primer. Its not near as bad as ya think to sand down. Good luck with the project.
