Lowering seats

Just picked up an 88 201 Liberator, need to lower the seats, any ideas? Can the post be removed and cut?

Sorry, fogot to mention need to lower about 6 inches...

Yes , You should be able to cut post off,just make sure you cut it straight to avoid wobble. I cut mine off 2 inches with no problem.
