Default Definition of Sport Yacht

Just curious if anybody had any thoughts or opinions on the definition of "sport Yacht", and what kinds and or sizes of boats would fit into that category. A friend of mine and I were arguing about it, and so i thought a quick post might clarify the situation.

Well, we have a Sea Ray 43 Sundancer. To me, that's a cruiser, not a sport yacht. A sport yacht to me, is someting like the Princess V-class V56 and up. http://www.princessyachts.com/index....lector/vclass/
Nor-tec 80' could do I guess Big and fast. The formula 40ss and fountain 48es are sport cruisers in my book.

This one might be a little big to be called a sport yacht, but a 124' 60 knot yacht certainly qualifies imo;

Yes it is. The materials and layup techniques involved have never been used in a yacht of this size. It would be an honor to watch this yacht run at even 3/4 throttle. Only two other yachts in the world can match Ermis2's speed-TWINE and Gentry. At least I think that's right...

The article says 57 knots but it was written when Ermis2 was just launched and probably still testing props. It would not surprise me if it is running at least 60 knots today. Ermis has a 14,000gal moveable ballast system(fore and aft) so its speed is even more impressive given that weight plus fuel and potable water.
