Default What's a 496 HO still under warranty worth?

I bought a leftover 2007 deckboat last Aug with a 496 HO - so it's under the original Merc warranty until Aug of 2011. I found a dealer that is willing to swap for a used 525 but I was wondering what the 496 might be worth to swap and in the open mkt.

The engine has 40 something hours on it.

Any idea?

whats the history on the 525? If they dont have details that can be varified i dont think i'd do the swap. You could get anything from a nice low hour take out to a three year old SVL motor.

The boat will be easier to sell with the HO in it. Just maybe not as much fun to drive.

don't think it would bring that
complete: 8K cash and carry
isn't the warranty only good to the original owner?
if not what's the fee to transfer?

I know the warranties used to be transferable. I paid $50 to transfer one several yrs. ago.

warranties are transferable, both mine are still under warranty and I'm the second owner... you are correct 50 bucks to transfer
