This was tonight's adventure...

By far the most stuck spin on filter I have ever encountered. Ended up crushing it in the vise and twisting it off the mount in pieces. Apparently the last guy who did this job thought so too; the other side was much newer, and a different brand filter.

Every time! There's a thread on some boaters switching to OBs because they are sick of getting their asses kick working in the bilge. I always tweak my lower back and bust a knee cap just about every time I'm down there. Damn boat has NO RESPECT! hmmmm, I think I just came up with name for my boat!

RT, I feel your pain. This summer I found what turned out to be an oil pan bolt in the bilge.
Several hours of standing on my head trying to finger each bolt to see which was missing--later; it was the one closest to the transom assembly. Effn-duh! I should have just started there. Fortunately I was able to crawl up in the gunwale and get to it with the ratchet/extension without a whole lot of trouble.
Speaking of filters, that's the one thing I hate about the Napa Wix filters; they have stickers on them and not silkscreen ink. I need to just pull the stickers off before I install them next time. The stickers always spin in the filter wrench.
