Does anyone make a kit to add a valve so that when your in salt water you can flush you motors out. I have the hose hook ups in the bilge already, but i dont have the valve to shut off the water coming from the drive.

I just installed some brass 90-degree inline ball valves on the input side of my sea strainers to handle this. I don't remember off the top of my head what size they were though; I want to say 1" or maybe 1-1/8", but don't quote me on that. I got them from a local plumbing supply house. One side simply threaded into my sea-strainer, and on the other side I got an adapter that goes from threaded-to-barbed so I could attach and clamp the hose that comes from the drive.

It can be difficult to plumb in a valve when you have that one hose from the drive to the water pump. I had these : http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...classNum=10439
On for a couple of years and they do what you want, shut off the raw water when a hose is hooked up. But I found both of them cracked last year from vibration so I took them off. You could add some hose and a valve like Nick said, you just have to be creative.

i fought water temp after my rebuild and it was hell, chased around the problem until i finally just redid everything, pumps, impellers, etc...
i was a little concerned throwing in a valve like that would reduce the diameter of the hose and reduce the amount of water, thus run high temps again...
im probably over thinking this,

My 88 Formula came with 1-1/4 ball valves and extention handles so that you could easily turn them off and on, but it had TRS drives with separate water intakes. There isn't enough pressure drop through the valve to worry about, but don't the Bravo drives have a seacock to keep the boat from sinking if a hose ruptures?

Exactly. Same here. That's the other reason a shut-off from the drive is beneficial. Anyone who's ever changed an impeller in the water knows not to ever lay that hose down in bilge. Keep it up high.
