Question Where To Stay For Desert Storm 2011??

So I'm sitting here trying to plan my first trip out to Lake Havasu for Desert Storm this April. I am looking for suggestions and tips on where to stay. At this point the Nautical Inn and London Bridge are out. I want to be relatively close to the action or within walking distance. I will not have a boat, but will have a car. Some possible hotels from looking them up on the net are:

Island Inn, Quality Inn, Days Inn, Super 8, and Hampton Inn.

Any suggestions or thoughts from fellow OSO'ers that are familiar with the area? Any comments are welcomed!! Thanks.

Island Inn is best local of the selections remaining. If it's under $75 per night, do it. I always stay there. Get a balcony room (lake view balcony with metal bars not stucco wall) so you can see out would be my choice.

Is there an area close to hotel where i could dock or beach the boat? Do you normally put it on the trailer every night? Thanks Jaime

Best to trailer in/out evey night. The channel doesn't allow overnight beaching. The marina may have spaces, however no reservations, but it's on a first come first serve basis and they have limited larger/wider slips.

Another alternative is VBRO.com. Lots of condos to rent and if you get one at King's View, you can beach there and leave the boat overnight. This might be your best alternative especially if your party is larger (say 4-6) and you were thinking of getting multiple hotel rooms.

If you were going on the cheap, plenty of shoreline to camp on all around the river. However, sand beaches are a little harder to come by.....

Im close to Havasu , and am there quiet often.... So another option , if your not big on hotels and walking through lobbies, is staying at the Islander/RV Resort, just passed the Nautical INN on the island... u can rent out a park model (trailer) for the week or weekend, and have access to they're private launch ramp... Many Poker Run guys (Skaters, MTis, etc...) use this resort so they can use the private boat launch ramp....its rite on the water, and is a great setting for an out-of-stater.....

Islander RV/ Resort
751 Beachcomer blvd, Lake havasu, az 86403

Also check this RV park next to the Islander/Rv resort

Beachcomer RV/Resort
601 Beachcomer blvd, lake havasu, az 86403
928-855-2322

its like the islander,, just not as nice and has a public boat launch, so its nosier, but cheaper.....

Hope those are options for ya!!!

Thanks for info, I have stayed at Crazy Horse before and dam it was a great time, from what I could remember. My problem is im not bringing rv this trip so just wanted to find a hotel that has trailer parking and not to far of a walk for nightlife. How would you compare Crazy Horse to the two parks that you mentioned? Maybe next time i will try one. Thanks, JAIME

Honestly, crazyhorse seems to have been cleaned up over the years....however the Islander RV/resort is much nicer n most of the extreme boaters stay there... Also u dont need a boat to stay there... they have park models avail for rent, if interested.... Both i mentioned are nicer the crazyhorse,,, Also you had mentioned the Island INN... Perfect hotel option as someone else said.... Island INN is on the island and is super close to the channel (london Bridge), shopps and london bridge resort... probably 1 mile away... i believe the island INN also has a restaurant inside for breakfast etc.... its a safe area and has plenty of parking all around the hotel....

crazyhorse, Islander RV/resort, Nautical INN and Island Inn are all within a few miles of each other..... super close to the channel and the bridge....

See you there!

I'll try to remember to call Island Inn tomorrow, between bbq and football. Hopefully when i get out there i will have time to scope out Islander/rv for the future. JAIMEM24

Ramada is right across the street from the London bridge. Decent prices, decent hotel, close the everything. If you're just looking for a place to put your head down at night for the cheapest price check out motel 6 and easy 8. They're less than a mile from the London bridge.
