Question Follow Up- Skater 368/388/40 Rear Transom(bussel)

Hey guys thanks for all the great responses on the last post... Ok so whats up with the rear transoms on alot of Skaters 368 thru 46... for instance looking at the rear transom of the Skater 388 that went 186mph at LOTO the rear of the boat is completely square...no added design... Then i look at pure platinum 388 skater that went 185mph at its rear transom looks completely different... Same with the 40 Skater... I was looking at Poker run pics of a 40 Skater "no plans" and its completely square at the transom... then i look at a 40 Skater "predator" and its got added design at the transom.. Is this cosmetic only? too look better? does it add to the overall performance or length of the hull ?......thanks!

Pete will design whatever you want, it is for cosmetic reasons only

If you're talking about the upper section off of the transom that sort of covers the drives & exhaust, then that's just cosmetic and can be designed a variety of ways.

If you're talking about the lower section underwater, that extends out between the drives from the tunnel, that's a tunnel extension & is not cosmetic. The tunnel extension acts sort of like a tunnel tab, but is much more solid & doesn't have the dangerous aspects a tunnel tab has, since it cannot be moved up or down. It is designed to make the boat perform better in rougher conditions, as well as to pack air sooner, then allow it to escape the tunnel slower, keeping the boat flying more efficiently & making it faster.

Here is a 40 without the tunnel extension or any overhang on the upper portion of the transom. Basically a "stock" transom:

Here is a 40 with the tunnel extension:

Here is a 36 that has the upper transom extended to cover the exhaust, etc, but does not have the "tunnel" extension below:

Here's a pic that shows how the tunnel extension comes off the tunnel & is part of the boat itself:

Pure Platinum has the tunnel extension, plus a little of the upper transom overhang:
