Thinking about planning a trip to Newport this summer with the boat to visit our daughter. Going to do a long weekend. Are there any marinas around there that have transient docking and where would be some good places to hang out with other performance boaters?

I do know that but there has to be some places to go up that way. Outerlimits is in Bristol. Where do they run around.

Hey Scottw,

Sheraton Hotel , Goat Island ... Nice size Marina attached.
Pull up Chamber of commerce is your best bet.

As stated, Newport is blow-boat haven! Cool place to visit, but not really a place where you'll find many go-fast boats (unless there's a run going through there). Although, plenty of places along LI and CT to find some folks to hang with.

Hopefully Justin (Moses) will chime in, I think he said his dad has a place on Newport so he might have some more info for you.

Our daughter lives in Newport. Was just looking for somewhere close by. We are open to other areas close by. Keep me posted on any other ideas.

Head over to east greenwhich/Warwick area. The marina over there is where a couple performance boats are kept and Chelos is a nice restaurant to hit up. Block Island is another great place to go. Old or New harbor.

Transient docking available at the Newport Yachting Center

Also at Goat Island and there are hotels near both if needed. Lots of good bars and restaraunts in Newport but like others have said, not much in the way of a performance boating scene there.
