Which way does oil flow in BW trans?

Correct Randy fluid returns to the bottum and leaves out the top port back to the oil cooler

Actually it flows from the fitting on the top thru the cooler to the sump at the bottom. See page 9 at http://www.marineryachts.com/borg_manual.pdf
