Hey guys and gals,
Im sure this has been asked before but cannot find a post on it. I have a 95 Baja 24 Outlaw with 454 Carb motor, Bravo 1 outdrive. I had a 4 blade 25p labed prop last year and could barley hit 54mph with 4 people in the boat full of fuel. I would think this boat should at least hit 60. Maybe wishful thinking, but i think it has it in it. This boat came with a cheap 3 blade 23p prop and its junk. Is 4 blade to much for this boat or what would work better? Thanks for your help in advance.

From: Denmark and hopefully some place nice
What kind of hp is the engine, gear ratio, gps speed is needed, and as mentioned rpm's @ wot.
If x-dimension i low, as in prop shaft 7-8 inches below boat bottom, a three blade should do fine. In this case a Mirage+ either 23" or 25". A four blade on a deep drive, can be a handfull for the engine. It will propabley give you better midrange speed and better time to plane, but be slower on top. Then again if you have a high x dimmesion, you will have problems getting on plane with a three blade, and then a four blade will work better. In this case I'll try a Revolution 4, also 23" and 25". With the age and model of boat you have, the X is most likely rather low. Bottom line is, I would try the Mirage+ and Rev4 props. They where made with your kind of boat in mind.
What kind of labbed prop did you have? Make and model.

A labbed 23" Mirage Plus will be the fastest prop. It should put you at about 62mph. A 22" Bravo 1 will give you the best cruise and make getting plane the easiest. A 25" 4 blade is way to big of a prop unless it has a small diameter.

I'm not sure where you're located, but I have a 23 Mirage (non-plus) and a 22 or 24P 4-blade Hydromotive (I can't remember which) that I used to run on a Formula 242LS that you're welcome to try. PM me if interested.

Very good info given so far, but if it is the 330 HP you will need a 21p mirage and should hit 55 MPH. If it is the Mag use the 23p and you should see 59-60 MPH. This is assuming GPS speeds, the "Dreem O Meter" will read higher.

Thanks for the replys guys. Sorry it took me so long to reply. Was busy last night. The boat was running about 4900 rpm with the 4 blade so I belive it was way over proped. Im pretty sure It is the smaller of the two 454's (Gen V) offered that year. I found the block casting number but not the GM engine code. I 'think" I have the boat anchor heads and the cast crank. So i belive it was the 330Hp. Boat is shrink wrapped otherwise i would check to confirm. I think im gonna shout at chewymalone and see about his 23 mirage. I think that would be best. Thanks for the help guys!
