496 wasn't available in 1999. Since it has sat so long, I would check to make sure the hull was properly supported and has not developed a hook. The motor needs to have fresh fuel, oil, and filters before starting. I would also pre-lube the motor before firing it up after sitting that long. I would also consider changing out the valve springs as the ones that have been compressed have most likely taken a set.

A reputable motor shop will rn a compression test and pull the valve covers for a couple hours labor!! Good insurance on a big investment!! Good luck with the deal, if all is in good shape it sounds like you could end up with a pretty good deal on it!!!!

My old 288 had the 454 MAG MPI engine in it when I bought it before I switched it over to a 525SC. It should run around 63 MPH on GPS...I would think a 502 may run 66 or 67. I loved mine....it had 400 hours on it and no stress cracks anywhere! Value would be $35,000 - $40,000 if it is very clean.
