...but generally you can calculate at $10/sq ft for estimation purposes.
There are different materials used depending on wrap. The ones I have used/seen might actually be less slippery after a little time in the sun.

Keep in mind when estimating the square foot it is square foot of material used in the process not actual exact sq ft on the boat. Some of these generate a large amount of end cuts and waste by virtue of their shape and complexity. If you have an area that is say 26 inches wide you may be charged by the linear foot if nothing else can be nested in the remainder of a 50 inch wide vinyl as an example. Even still (although i am not a fan) its a pretty good alternative to paint, and printing technology has come a long way. My guy can even print metallics and foils, cool stuff.

...on the money! No pun intended!
In just the last few years the quality and variations of media and ink has improved in quantum leaps. I have even seen ones which had a mild holographic effect!
Sometimes when you see the raw product you will wonder "what are they doing?" Then when the artist has done their magic with the cutting and trimming your concerns will generally vanish.
Many of the newer products experience little or no fade and unlike some of the older wraps, if you decide to remove they are much easier to take off.
Just as a personal note, sometimes less is more. While a very complicated graphic might look cool on paper, on a large surface it can become too complicated and not get the desired effect!

I wrapped my 26 foot Powerquest. Some vinyl on the bow but not a full wrap...Cost was $1300 to have custom vinyl printed (the skies the limit on the design) and I paid another $700 to have it installed. $2000 total. It was well worth it and alot cheaper than even a basic paintjob.

I had my 42 lightning wrapped by SignZoo about 4 years ago and I have seen many wraps and money for money they do a FANTASTIC job. They use 3M material and my sides lasted 3 years and still looked new. I had them replace the material above the rub rail after year 2 just because of fender rash and a few dock nicks but it was easy since they just reprinted the material. i worked with them for 4-6 weeks just to get the design just like I wanted it and it grabbed attention wherever I went. Sold the boat a couple months ago and removed it but it could have lasted another couple years easy.
I paid about $5-6k total but that was them coming from FL to TN to do the install. Wraps are much like other things... you can get it done for less but do you really want to? I have seen so many with bubbles and fading etc... If you want to keep the boat and want a quality job don't save yourself a few hundred bucks! You do get what you pay for...
