Question resurrecting a 1985 Baja force 220

I have a 1985 baja force 220 that I am wanting to change the color of. I would like to know the best overall way of doing this at a reasonable cost factor. I have been told to use marine paints, base coat clear coats, and even to use white gel coat......help.....lol!? I would like to do some airbrush work on the sides and top of this boat so could someone please help go me in the right direction?

Personally I would recommend having it wrapped in vinyl. I had my pink and teal boat wrapped for about $2000 (total including installation) and couldnt be any happier.
