What am I missing here???
I was looking at the kilo records from the Marathon Race.
I would love to know the secrets of getting a 29ft fountain to run 90mph with a single 500hp engine???

I think Fever Mike or Too Old can shed more light on this, however, 29 at 80+ strip the boat, them prop with a Hydro 28-29 labbed, raise X dim as high as you can and drive it like a sponsor is paying for the repairs.
I think a better question is the Velocity 28, that PB tested, out of factory hitten 81-82 w/ 500efi.
its a trade off though, to get that top end planning off I am sure is difficult, with people aboard.
Both very fast and good looking boats

Sorry, didn't notice the dates. I was referring to the record set 10/13/00 in NC by the Wallace/Fountain F-1 team, 89.873 mph.
It just seems fast for a 29ft boat with a stock 500hp.
I was just trying to get some insight into the set-up!!

I've got a buddy in Houston that just went through the TOPPS radar runs on Lake Conroe with a 26 Velocity equipped with a 415 hp 502 EFI and got a consistent 70.5 (average of three runs). I could see getting high 70's with a 500 HP, if the boat had no (minimal) cabin and was laid up light.
