Default First season with this boat and have some questions before I do some damage.

Not a first time boat but first time to fountain and high performance. And I have some questions, last owner didn't do any work him self and I am a Do it yourselfer.

1. The boat I have is a 91 Fever with 454 MAGS, what kind of oil and how much?

2. Right now it has a marine filter on it, what would be the normal car filter number on the oil filter so I can pick up a FRAM, stp, etc.

3. Besides changing oil, drive oil, checking all fluids etc, is there anything that I am missing?

Should be around 8 quarts for each motor. I use Mercury oil.

I use the Merc Racing filters they are around $14 each.

If the sea water pump hasn't been changed it's a good idea to put new ones in so you don't get stuck on the water one day.

You really should get a factory manual and go with what it says. My old Merc 420's called for straight 40 wt and I used Castrol with Fram HD filters and got 700+ hours out of it with no issues.

7.5-8 qts pendind how well you evacuate old oil. merc 25-40 or 50 oil. blend or full synthetic available. merc filter.
if u want to use wix they are good as well as they make mercs racing filters i believe.mobil1 15-50 is good oil as well. change your thermostats.back flush cooling system thoroughly. flush block routinely. and keep in tune. this and what is said above should give you a pretty trouble free season.. best of luck.
