Anyone ever patch an aluminum gas tank w/fiberglass. Found a hole in my gas tank towards the top in engine room. Trying to avoid cutting bulkhead. I can get to the hole, but not to weld. Could you glass it? Or use some type of epoxy, bondo, jb weld and then glass over. Again, hole is on the side at top about 3/4 X 1/2". Trying to aviod ripping whole tank out this year.

Years ago I accidentally drilled a hole in the bottom of my gas tank in my Sea Ray (through the outside of the hull). I drained all the gas out. Remove the Gas gauge from the tank. Swabbed the bottom of the tank where the whole was through the gauge opening. I then filled the hole in the hull and tank from the outside of the hull with Seal-All till I saw it pool in the tank. I let it sit for a day and then filled it up. Never had a problem.
