Default difference between pantera 28 & scarab 29

who has been in both boat's that can tell what they think ?
i used to have a single 28 pantera so i know how that ride and handle's but have not been in a 29 scarab .
there are quite a few more scarab's for sale then pantera's in my price range but i need to no what im getting into with the scarab .
twin small block's is fine for the scarab or a big single " depend's on shape and use of boat and of course price "

For starters... ahhhh Night and Day... a Pantera is a custom boat built with the best materials... A Scarab is... well... it's a Scarab.

I thought you were buying VR's 28 Pantera? As for the Scarab, I had a 29 w/ twin 350 mags. I hated it, not because of the boat itself which had a good ride quality, but because the small blocks were DOGS. It had a good holeshot but after that the throttle response was very lackluster. Kind of like punching the pedal on a Hugo going uphill.

his bank is playing game's .

i kinda thought the small block's would be week and it would need some decent power to get moving .

You can pick up the phone and have a dialog with the guys that built the pantera.

If you want to do anything to it later they can tell you what to build where to get and how to mount it if you want to mod the boat.

- you almost certainly cannot do this with the Scarab.

Mike,

No comparison, Wellcrafts quality during the years you are looking at was crap, nothing sealed properly, if the boat ever had any kind of water in it, the wood in the stringers and transom will be wet.

I would suggest he buy this Sutphen, over the Scarab or the Pantera. I like the 28' Pantera, but a 30' Sutphen is a helluva boat (or the 31' Sutphen too).

This one works for me:
