Default New Guy old question: What flat tappet cam in a GEn5 MPI?

Hi from Germany...

i used the search, get a lot of answers but not what i search for

I have a 502 Gen5 MPI, but i wonder i have a flat tappet cam inside in combination with non-adjustable rocker arms

The cam is worn out and i need a new, but all i can find are informations for roller cam or roller cam upgrades

But all i want is same cam or a little bigger that works fine without reprogram the injection computer. I want to order bunch of parts so i want a cam that i can find in a engine warehouse, not the original Merc.

Anybody a good idea or specs?

TY

What would be lift at .050?

And what would be a better cam? More duration? With more lift i would be afraid for valve-piston-contact

.050" is the lift. They are saying it has 224 degrees of duration when measured with the valve open .050". You would not want anymore duration than that cam or you will loose low end power. You should be able to go to at least .600" lift with out worrying of a valve hitting a piston.
