Default any problems with 2010/11 GMC 2500HD

Friend of mine is ordering a 2011 2500HD with either a 6.0 or 6.2 gas engine. Any problems with these out there?

We have 3 Similar trucks at my work. 2008, 2009, and 2011 2500 HD with 6.0. They seem to be holding up fine the 2 older ones are around 140,000 miles already with no real issues and we plow with them!!! Aside from a weird non sloping nose to see over, they are great trucks. Do yourself a favor and dont go extended cab. Go crew. The extended cabs start creeking and groaning when off camber. Too big of a space between front and rear. This seems to be an issue in any make. Probably has to do with plowing

My company vehicle is an 04. They are tuned differently so not as much hp, but I have 175k on that one and i put it thru the same abuse.

My personal vehicle is an 06 crew cab which I pull the boat with. That has 50k and no issues. As you can tell from my one sided remarks I am a chevy guy.

I think the only thing I dont like about the new body style is the bumper front trim stuff. Tell your friend to look at the GMC version. Nose looks cleaner and less "pieced together".

Ive noticed a traction control and a usb plug inside in the 2011!!

The trans seems to be a little firmer on the 2011 too.

my dad bought a 2011 3500 hd diesil single wheel crew long box and it has a bad vibration when towing even a light trailer. it has been to the dealer several times and they cant figure out what it is. to me it feels like it is in the torque converter because it only does it under load. I think they are going to lemon law it. and i think he is on to a ford sad to say (ive always been a diehard chevy guy) but it seems like a nicer truck after having this one for 8000 miles i am not very impressed with several small issues

I bought a new 2010 2500HD GMC 4wd Crewcab SLT with the 6.0 in it, late last year. It has ~5,700 miles on it now. I love the truck, but I don't think the tranny is going to be long for this world. It randomly slips really bad when shifting between first and second, once or twice a day .... I mean, really noticable slip .... like jumping 1000 rpm kind of slip and it is only between first and second gears, never between any others. I don't think it is supposed to do that! It almost feels and sounds like someone in a standard shift missing a gear. The truck is my daily driver and the tranny has been doing this since a couple of weeks from being brand new - I almost always have no load in, or behind the truck, other than me being in it. I've only had a trailer (boat and trailer ~ 8000 lb) behind it 2 or 3 times since new. Checked the tranny fluid level to be sure it was ok. Had it back to the dealer once and they said "cannot duplicate customer concern". When it eventually stops moving, and needs to be towed in, maybe then they can "duplicate customer concern". Until then I'm going to keep driving it. Other than the tranny randomly slipping, it is a really nice vehicle.

Can you get the 6.2L in the 2500HD? I thought you could only get the 6.0L.

Yea that truly is a shame. Hopefully the dealer will do right by you. The one thing I know and said about the 08-10 models was the trans was very "car like". I think they tightened it up a bit in '11. Maybe the duramax is the only way to go now because it has the allison????

All I know is they better figure it out before I need a new one!!! I love my '06

Angry 2011 gmc 2500hd

Have a '11 2500HD ext cab Z71 w/6.0. Has less than 4000 miles and the transmission went out today. Dealership said he hasn't had any problems prior to this with this trans. Very irritating. This truck is a SLE with 18" tires and rims. Just happened without any warning.
