If it had the 8.1L I would be all over it.

c'mon 6.0 is a good motor. Ive had no issues at work or on the personal rig.

I have heard of the 8.1 burnin oil prematurely

I'm on my second 8.1 and they have both used a quart of oil every 3000-3500 miles. They used the same amount of oil at 30k as they did at 140k.

No comparison in torque from the 6.0 to the 8.1. You also get an Allison trans with the 8.1.

I have a 2004 2500HD 6L. The problem I have with the 6.0 is that it only came with a 4.10 rear. I think a 3.73 would be adequate for me.

The MPG really blows! My truck is turning the same RPMs as my Honda Civic on the highway!

Another benefit of the Allison 6 speed trans. I turn 2400rpms at 80mph and I have 4.10's. The mpg still sucks, but its only slightly lower than a 6.0.

Yea that is true with the allison. Right now I have 285's aka 33's with the 4.10's and at 75 im runnin 2400 rpm.

I know my 23 isnt the heaviest thing and thats why the 6.0 is perfect for me right now. I get around 12 mpg towing @ 70-75MPH. the only thing I do special when driving and I would do this with any vehicle is I dont use cruise control when towing. I can keep it from kicking down when I do it myself. The programer, the exhaust, and the intake really help.

I'm happy....At least till I get into the 30'+ range

the 2005 has the 5 speed Allison not the 6.

On my truck forum,,,it is the generall thought the 5 speed is actually stronger,,,,,but its amoung guys putting huge tq to them with the Duramaxs.

I pulled our 36 outlaw with my 6.0 truck,,,,it did good,,,, but liked to hunt gears on grades a bit. 6.0 like rpm and a custom tune helped ALOT ,,,,GM puts a bunch of torque management ion there

It was totalled by a drunk or I would still have it,,,, the 6.0 is a great motor Good luck with your sale
