As tempting as this is, I'll refrain from making the vette joke at this point...

I heard about this earlier. I'm really glad to hear the driver walked away. That could have been a really bad day for his family.

As much as I love seeing the envelope being pushed, it's only a matter of time before these standing mile events start having some deaths on their hands. Guys are pushing these otherwise close to stock bodied cars and running them to insane speeds... far faster th. You can beef everything up to handle the power, but at some point they have fundamental aerodynamic issues as no design engineer ever intended for them to go this fast.

As I posted in another thread, I think we are getting close with the 4000+ hp boats as well that are starting to roll out these days. It's only a matter of time...

Vettes are notorious for not being able to handle high speeds 190+ without getting light.

Lingenfelter among others had this problem when they tried running them in the early 2000s with the 750TT package...now 750 is a joke...if you're not pushing 900+ you're not even in the same league...

My c5s always started to get light up there, got a bit scary...(yes juice and forged internals, they did pull there and I had the 6th gear ratio change so 6th wasn't effectively useless...)

Supras still reign supreme as one of the best built cars to handle this, that's why they ran 250+ in the standing mile...

I have to agree, must be nice to crack up cars like this and then come back and run them again just for the hell of it....

They'll never beat the records the Supras have put down....totally different world Supra vs Vette..yes they need big turbos and race fuel, but they are one of the most rock solid cars at speed. I had 3 of em, all with 1000+ on the street, they were a blast, but the car is simply violent...I ran big DRs and Cheaterslicks...and I still would have to shock the tires 2-3 times..before it grabbed, but when it grabbed...there was nothing like it..

Just my two cents..

Scott: this is not going to end well, you've got people putting motors in boats pushing them to race speeds with open cockpits. It's just not safe, I have to agree with you there...

Vipers...well...never understood why the body panels never matched up, and the lack of a dead pedal...really urked me....great car..on the bottle it was a blast

All it takes is one major accident...and none of us will be able to cost effectively insure these things...and with the tax, it's just getting expensive just to maintain beyond the mechanical aspects of what we run as it is..

Good video frank, Turbos are the only way to make power, Of course I sell turbos so of course I think that.LOL

Problem is too many people withy more money than brains are getting a hold of the TT power these days.

Boats will be getting stupid soon too just as you said. Espeicially when we start seeing 20 to 26 FT single BBC or SBC boats with 900+ turbo power. then its gonna get crazy
