Hey guys I just finished up replacing the stringers, bulkheads, deck, and gunnels in my 1979 Formula 233ls. Now its the exciting part and time to put some paint down. I have a few questions as far as the finishing of the bare fiberglass.
1. Is it okay to use final fair to even out some spots where the glass didn't lay down perfectly?
2.Should I prime the floor, gunnels, and interior walls with some type of high build primer to even it all out?
3. Still trying to decide on what type of paint for the above mentioned parts. For the floor, I'm thinking either interlux inter-lock, or kwiki-grip. Not sure about the gunnels and walls though.
Any thoughts would be appreciated as to these questions or anything else I should be doing at this stage in the restoration. I will probably be brushing this, but could spray it.....just have to learn how.

Need a few suggestions for products please. What's a good fairing compound that is hard enough to use on the floor to even up some spots? What are your recomendations for a gel coat? Is evercoat any good?

Spectrum color.com will have everything you need. There are cheaper but this is the best stuff. They have fairings compound gel coat to roll on first a couple coats then in 24 hours put a last coat on with 50% gel and 50% duratec clear additive and harden normal. Roll or spray in a final coat with this and will shine like paint. The duratec website will have all the info u need.

Does anyone have a good write up or know where to find one of how to gel-coat a floor. It seems pretty straight forward but I'm lost as far as the last coat. How do you apply the wax so the gel-coat doesn't cure tacky?

as stated,,you wont need wax if you mix the gel with duratec clear 1 to 1 mix..it will dry tack free and shine like paint..Remember what ever the base looks like will look the same finished,if its ruff around the edges the final result will look the same.
