Default Fun Run in Organization for Memorial Weekend

Hey Guys:

A friend of mine has a brand new Brazilian Churraschuria Restaurant on the Housatonic River in Stratford, CT called Bossa Nova.

On May 29, they will have music, food and dancing on his deck. They have 6 docks with rafting available.

I thought it would be a great idea for Sutphen owners and their freinds with their boats to have a great day on the River or zip quickly out to the Sound.

If interested let me know on this board.

Of course, I am boatless so someone may have to give the old guy a ride!

Ron

Nothing against the guy but if you want us to go there to why should we pay docking it should be a free be just to get us there to hang out and spend money.
Down here at the Tipsy Seagul never a dock fee and Ive seen a few stay over night on the goose egg. Not saying that all the time but when you spend a couple of bucks on food drink they comp you the night. I know of a fun run that was to get people down to a cetain venue. They were no pleased to pay dock fee due to they were the attraction and they had to pay to be the attration.
Just my thoughts

Hey Sick - it sounds like the marina is dictating the prices, not the restaurant. Those prices are ridiculous though. There is a much more happenning spot in Stamford called the Crab Shell and it is $15 for as long as you want. Even Claudio's in Greenport is much cheaper.

Just an FYI they charge at Claudios but it is a dollar per foot for the day not the hour and you van go to the town marina next door with a similar deal. With gas prices and the state of the economy I am surprised they would cgarge like this but hey if they get more power to them. I for one would pay a couple of hundred in gas then a couple of hundred in food?/drink then a $100 plus for docking not to mention tipping at he dock it becomes a$600-$800 day. Boaters should send a message they we are tired of getting taken advantage of and boycott these deals. There are others who want your business. It is not that I think they should not get something for their dock space but come on per hour...really? How many of you would got to a resturant that charges you to park your car for the hour.

I know that the marina is charging for the rental fee. I was just saying maybe he should have worked out a deal with them. throw them a few hundred or so and let the boaters dock on hos dime. Because you know he will make that back with the food and bev. served. Atleast I would say that he shoulnt have a problem recouping. Age old saying my dad tought me when i was just starting out at the shop

I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Apparently, the marina owner doesn't care too much about the tenant. As a Landlord, I would do anything to help a tenant out,

I tried the best I could. If no one shows, what could I do.

It's too bad. It's like the marina owner wants to get in everyones pocket.

The restaurant is paying for the first hour of dockage. I couldn't get him to coff up more. I don't think he understand us boaters and the fact that we like to party.

Well, Milford harbor is around the corner and there are 5 restaurants and plenty of dockage. Their day rates are pretty inexpensive.

Sorry

i say screw it and come up here. dump in at kernwood ramp and we can shoot out threw beverly up the cost to Gloucester and i will call ginni from mad fish and have her save us a spot on the dock and we can own the mad fish grill. hang there for a while and eat and drink. then either shoot from there out to newburryport or shoot across to boston and go someplace there.
mad fish is fun with free docking and we can raft up as many wide as we need.

they also have great clam chowder and good over all food.
ginni loves us up there. we eat and drink like fish and leave a good tip every time so we get the royal treatment and after we eat and drink she has no issue with us hanging on the dock for a bit and drinking out of our own coolers!! also over night docking is ok as well.
its fun for sure.
