Default Merc Power steering Pump 16792A39 cross reference to GM Part #

Can anyone give me the GM part # (delco part #) for a Merc Power Steering pump part # 16792A39? Don't want to spend $400 for a new one.

Other option would be a rebuild kit if anyone knows of one.

Thanks!!

Not sure for what year but I'm pretty sure it's a Saginaw PS pump.

just go to a local auto parts store, get a std saginaw pump that looks like yours, change the pressure regulator(big nut where pressure line connects) remove nut, valve and spring put ine new pump..then you have the same as you had before for less that $100...

ILriverboater,
How did this work-out? I bought a used Chaparral off craigslist last week. Found a bottle of power steering fluid in one of the storage wells while test driving and asked the guy about it. He said it had been in the boat since he bought it. Been on the water twice since I bought the boat and both times the steering fluid leaked out. I'm guessing from around the shaft, fluid all over engine compartment. GO FIGURE! In same situation, extremely interested in your outcome and any GM part number you can share. Didn't plan on spending another $400-$500 right off the bat.

me too. No worries some may not be as mechanically inclined. Just remove the pump and replace all the brackets/components and reinstall.

yeah had the same issue with my 454 '90 baja. bought a rebuild at murrays auto for a 1990 chevy 1 tonn from 1990. same pump casting numbers and all. had to swap the reservoir because i didnt know which GM part was the same for that and I believe i swapped the regulator too.
