Might have been a poker run. Some runs they are required with no exceptions. I got stuck like that once on a friends 42 Fountain when they first started enforcing it. Felt like a doofus . . . . . but rules are rules. I assume its required per insurance for the event.

Hell - even the ones at Wal-Mart look better than that! 
They need those really big shoes and red-ball noses to complete the ensemble...
Actually, though - you can see how that could happen if the boat owner wasn't expecting such a requirement - but if you were doing poker runs and expecting to be running at speed with passengers - well....I think I would have had something a litle more, uh - appropriate - for them to wear...
