Should I have a sea strainer? I have a Fountain Fever 27 ft with 540 ci & 700 hp. I boat on the Upper Chesapeake Bay and Delaware River. Does anyone have any pictures with one mounted with the plumbing? Thanks for any info. Steve

The plumbing is pretty simple. Hose goes from the transom assembly into the strainer, then another hose goes out of the strainer to the sea water pump.
Now that I have one, I wish I would of gotten one long ago. Mainly because it makes flushing the motor much easier.
Not a great pic, but....hope it helps.

I was thinking about installing one too. I had quite a bit of seaweed make it past the pump and get caught in the "in" side of my oil/powersteering cooler. A lot! I know I got it on a freshwater lake in Jersey when it got low late this summer. weeds everywhere. I wont be up there too much this season so im not sure what to do.

Where would the strainer come into the mix when there is already a Merc pressure relief valve installed before the sea water pump? Is the pressure relief valve still necessary if the strainer is added?
