Default 20 Outlaw

Anybody had or know of anyone who has had this boat in the water? I'd like to hear some real world gossip on the new little puddle jumper.

I don't know of anybody that has one.....but from what I have seen it's a cool boat. I think it's sharp as heck and you'll get a good solid 60mph out of it from what I've read. I think the 20ft outlaw is perfect for a 1st boat, or for those of us that can't really afford the H2X's and stuff like that. Here's the way I look at it......it's a 20 footer with a good amount of room, honest 60mph, and prices in the low 20's, not too shabby I'd say.

I wonder what type of power it would take to get the boat to 60 mph? The boats that I have seen come with the 260 HP.

I agree, I think it's a really sharp looking boat.

What it really needs, though, is a 377 scorpion. I'm sure it would fly!

I just bought a 2001 Hammer with a 7.4MPI.

I would've bought the 20' Outlaw if they had offered more than 260HP from a 5.0.

Granted, it's a cheap boat... but between the 5.0, the Alpha drive, the aluminum prop, and the cheap interior? Go buy yourself a bowrider.

dloftis,
I was thinking the same thing. The local Baja dealer here has a brand new 01 Hammer 7.4mpi for $30500. If you look at the motor upgrades from a 5.0 alpha to a 5.7 to a 5.7MAG to a 7.4mpi Bravo. I think that more than makes up for the difference in price. Plus I think the hammer is a nicer boat with more options like a engine hatch lift and a padded V-birth.

I would just like to know how it handes and what kind of real speed they are getting.

The Islanders seem a better option to me. More space, Bravo I, SS prop, etc.

I would think the 212 or 232 would be a better choice.

I have a 20 ft outlaw and it will do 60 with a 5.0. I do wish it had more power. If you get one make sure that they put on trim tabs, it just doesnt like to get out of the hole without getting on the throttle.
I have switchable exhaust (capt call) and that will give you about 2-3 mph. Here in WI it is illegal to have this for some reason but I haven't got cought yet....(where is that damn piece of wood at..)!

russ,
Thanks for the info. Have you ever ridden in or driven a 212? If so better or worse? Don't worry your not the only one with switchable in WI.
