Default Changeing Thermostat on 2.5

How hard is it to change out a thermostat on a MERC 2.5 O/B. Is this something I can do myself or is this a send to shop deal??

high perf 2.5 motors dont have thermostats. if its a production motor then it does , one on top of each cylinder head , easy to change , take about ten minutes each? having temp problems?

Mercman,
Yes on the temp problem. one motor runs hotter than the other. Not comfortable with it running that warm so I'm considering changeing the T-stat and the impeller that should cover my bases.

The motors are 1996 2.5/ 200 hp carb not Efi. stock motors with bobs machine nosecones. I ordered new t-stats and looked at the old ones cleaned them up a bit the motor still runs a little to warm for my likeing so I'm going to change them out and also the Impeller. But that is not a big problem. My big problem is I hit somthing this weekend and bent my prop shaft so thats going in to the shop on wed. to get a new shaft put in place. Thats going to hurt the wallet!!! Mercman thanks for the reply, I'll keep you informed as to how things go.
