So I have a Sony xplod deck with two infinity amps, 4-12's 4-6x9's 2-6's. Bought the boat with this system, just trying to tune of in. Systems pounds on a cd, but radio, and aux input, the subs barely move and over all volume is way down. How do I make it bang on all sources? I am buy no means a stereo pro!

You most likely can't. The quality of the signal from the CD's is much better.

One thing you may check, some head units you have to set up each input source seperately. (As in bass, treble, levels, loudness etc) I had one like that a while back.

CD and a direct IPOD connection are going to always sound better. Its a norm of an aftermarket system. When I plug my IPOD in to my deck with the aux it is not as clear or loud because of the sound quality of the type of connection you are using. Most head units also have a separate SLA (signal level adjustment) to adjust CD and direct sources such as an IPOD using the direct, not aux, input, if the head unit has it. SLA you can turn up and make a CD or IPOD sound even louder at the same volume of the radio.

Thanks for the input guy's. I guess I will just have to burn some more cd's. It's just seems crazy to me that the subs pound real hard on a cd, but barely move on the aux. I get more bass from the 6x9's on the aux.

Realistally the aux should sound very similar to the CD. One thing you may want to check is that the volume of whatever you are plugging into the AUX is turned up all the way, are a bump or two from all the way. Then use the radio to adjust the volume.

The other suggestion as to make sure the bass/trebble/loudness are the same for each source. I had a Sony radio on my boat as well and it had some compression (Loudness type setting) that had a range from 1-10. It was independant for each source. I forgot what it was called (ACC or ACV i think) but verify this as well.

Also in the setup there may be a level adjustment for the AUX, I would have this in the middle of the range if there is a setting usually -5~0~+5 or it may go -10~0. I would not turn this up past the midpoint or you may over-modulate the input and it may sound distorted.
